Independent Physician Associations The Association of Primary Care Physician The Association of Primary Care Physicians (APCP) was formed in 1994 as a non-stock, non-profit corporation governed by a Board of nine physician members. To date approximately 200 primary care physicians, and over 200 preferred specialists, participate in the Louisville based IPA. APCP contracts with Precision Healthcare Delivery, Inc. for management services. TPN is a physician-owned, physician-operated, multi-specialty independent practice association (IPA) which arranges managed care contracting for its physician participants in the Central and Eastern Kentucky Areas. As such, the primary purpose of TPN is to allow physicians in independent or small group practice to organize, so that they can compete successfully for the growing number of patients in managed care plans while still maintaining an independent practice. It is the aim of TPN to help secure an adequate patient population base for its physician participants while preserving physician control of practice conditions - i.e., while protecting appropriate physician decisional authority, preserving satisfactory practice arrangements, and promoting fair reimbursement. TPN was chartered as a limited liability company in 1995. To date, over
600 physicians - including nearly 200 primary care physicians - from 25
counties in Central and Eastern Kentucky have applied for appointment
to TPN's provider panel. |
